Our Mission Statement
The Society is established to promote excellence in the communication and dissemination of information on addiction and related sciences within the scientific community and to those who have responsibility for the prevention, treatment, cure, professional training and policy formation in this field.
Founded in 2001ISAJE was formally constituted in 2001 by addiction journal editors as a non-profit organisation. ISAJE holds major meetings every year providing an opportunity to discuss shared challenges and solutions. Full membership is open to editors and staff of peer-reviewed journals, with flexible membership fees.
The membership today represents approximately half of the known journals in the world that publish peer reviewed articles on alcohol, drugs, tobacco, gambling and other behavioural addictions. |
Our GoalThe Society addresses the needs of journal editors, their staffs, authors and reviewers, for support and guidance in our field. We organize training seminars, and through online and printed material we offer guidance on ethical regulations and publication standards. We especially support journals published in the developing world and those published in languages other than English.

Our Conflict of Interest Declaration

These members have no voting rights and no other form of influence on the work and decision making of ISAJE.
In addition funds are received from time to time for specific activities, e.g. a.
The work of the Executive Officer is subsidized by the Society for the Study of Addiction (SSA) through an in-kind contribution of a part-time staff position at the journal Addiction. An annual pro-rata payment is returned to the SSA. The Executive Officer is appointed by the board of directors to give advice and to serve ISAJE's needs, but is neither a voting member of the board nor of the Society.
